Excelsior, Queen's set up netball showdown
Excelsior High and the Queen's School scored easy wins in the penultimate set of matches in the second round of the urban senior schoolgirls netball competition at the Leila Robinson netball courts yesterday.
Group One leaders Excelsior got by Wolmer's Girls 37-17 while Queen's blew away Penwood High 58-10 to set up a big top of the table clash tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.
Both coaches, Excelsior's Christopher Smart and Marvette Anderson of Queen's are very confident of victory going into the match.
"Our team is just as good as any other team and although we will be missing one of our top player, goal attack Hasana Williams who will be touring with the National senior team in England, I am confident that the girls will get the job done," Anderson said.
In his first year at the helm at Excelsior Smart is pleased with his team's performances so far.
"Queen's are a very good team but we have no fear for them and Excelsior are here to play and stay," said an upbeat Smart.
In tomorrow's other rescheduled senior matches, St Catherine High will take on St Hugh's while Wolmer's will battle Immaculate and Camperdown go up against Tarrant.
