Thousands to participate in Gibson McCook Relays

More than 3,500 athletes are registered to participate at tomorrow's 41st Gibson/McCook relays inside the National Stadium. The event will get under way with the preliminary round of the High School Boy's 4x400 metres at 9 a.m. with that event's final to close the meet at 9:20 p.m.

Some 13 Championship events will be contested with 11 of these to be contested by high school athletes with the other two by Clubs and Institutions.

The high school events are, 4x100m; Under 19 Boy's and Girl's; 4x100m; Under 17 Boy's; Girl's 4x200m; Girl's Open; 4x200m; Boys Class 1; 4x200m; Class Two Boy's 4x400m; Boy's Open 4x400m; Girl's Open 4x800m, and the Girl's Open and 4x800m Boy's Open.

The two Championships events for Clubs and Institutions are the 4x100m and4x400 for Men.

There will also be team incentives and prizes for the Top Boy's and Girl's High School teams along with the Best Overall Performance on the day.

The winner will receive the Neville 'Teddy' McCook Trophy.

Events to be contested include the 100m for male and female, 400 metres males and females, pole vault men, high jump men and women and the long jump for males and females.
