Favourites lay down gauntlet in ISSA rural netball

FOLLOWING two sets of matches in the second round of the ISSA Rural Schoolgirl netball competition, defending senior champions Denbigh High, and former many time champions Holmwood Technical, Manchester High and Glenmuir have shown dominant form with big wins in their matches and are unbeaten so far.

Denbigh, who are also the All-Island champions, were very ruthless in their opening Juniors game at St Elizabeth Technical after a big 51-9 win over Green Island. At the same venue, Glenmuir, also going over the half-century mark, easily disposed of Green Island 57-9. Former champions Holmwood were also in menacing form in their game at Glenmuir High after dispatching Edwin Allen 47-6. Manchester High had a 52-11 win over Mt Alvernia at the Llandilo Sports Club.

Playing their second set of matches on Thursday, it was the same story for the big teams, with Glenmuir leading the way this time with the biggest win of the round after an effortless 50-18 victory over St Elizabeth Technical at Manchester High. At St Elizabeth Technical, Manchester High blew away Green Island 46-4, while Denbigh got by Anchovy 21-3 at Manchester High. Here the game ended in the third quarter due to rain. The third set of matches will be played on Wednesday.
