While Tameka Stanford is confident in the Jamaica Women's bowling attack, she is hoping that they will improve on their batting performance in the upcoming Cricket West Indies Women's Regional Twenty20 (T20) and Super 50 championships.

The wicketkeeper and her teammates were engaged in an intense training camp at the Lucas Cricket Club on Wednesday.

"We'll be looking forward to scoring more runs, especially the senior players," she said. "Our bowling and fielding is up to par. If the opening pair don't give a good performance, the middle order and tail end need to pull their weight to make a good score that we can defend as a bowling unit. Our bowling is very strong."

Jamaica Women go into the T20 competition as defending champions, but were edged out by Barbados in the Super 50 series, despite being unbeaten for the duration of last year's competition.

Captain Stafanie Taylor, Chadean Nation, and Natasha Henry are currently resting after the Windies recently concluded tour of Pakistan and are expected to commence training next week.

Rashada Williams, who toured with the Windies squad, said the morale in the camp is high.

"Everyone is working hard and putting out their best so they can make the starting team," she said. "Going into the regional tournament, my main aim is to improve my batting performance and make our team victorious," she said.

The Jamaicans will depart on March 14 for Guyana, where the tournament will be held.
