It was a historic night last Saturday as the first ever female mixed martial arts matchup featured at the Rough Fight League, held at the Douglas Orange auditorium.

Lisa Frazer defeated Shanice Blake via a second-round technical knockout, which was to be the only victory for the Wushinkido Lion Pride fighting club on the night.

Frazer delivered a series of unanswered punches to the head of her opponent before referee Kasree Cassells called a deserved stoppage to the bout.

"I am grateful that the hard work I put in paid off in the cage. I am thankful for my opponent as well, without her I wouldn't be able to compete. The entire JDF was supporting me, especially the boxing team, and I am very happy to be one of the persons creating history in this sport," Frazer said.

The main event of the evening was a mismatch. Kyle Chin delivered an elbow strike to the jawline of Roje Wint sending him to the canvas, out cold in the opening seconds of the fight. Wint was removed from the cage on a stretcher by the medical team.

The opening fight was an entertaining affair. Debutant Benjamin Stanley forced referee Kaffain Williams to call a second-round halt to his matchup with Kirk Simms. Simms was on the receiving end of several blows from Stanley on the canvas, for which he had no reply. Simms protested the decision bitterly to no avail as Stanley was awarded the victory.

Frazer, who was modest in her victory, vowed that this was only the beginning of greater things to come. She credited her victory to her family and coach while looking forward to future completions.

"I am preparing for the Pan American Games in May. I will continue in this sport, I am Just getting started."
