It’s not mission impossible, says Waite

Jerome Waite, head coach of Arnett Gardens Football Club, is not ruling out a semi-final berth for his team, as they go into Monday's return leg of their quarter-final tie with a three-goal deficit.

Waite, who was absent from the sidelines of the first matchup due to national duties, will be leading his men next Monday against a buoyant Cavalier team at the Waterhouse Stadium.

Speaking with STAR Sports, Waite said that while qualification for the semi-final round of the Red Stripe Premier League was difficult at the moment, it was not impossible.

"We created chances in the last game but we did not put them away. Converting our chances is the most important thing. It is the only opportunity we have of moving to the next round. That is the most important thing for the team going forward," Waite said.

Waite further confided that the morale of his players remains high and he was hoping to have the support of the community for the upcoming tie.

"We are still looking to the 'twelfth-man' to be there, the fans do play a major role and we would like them to come out with a positive mindset to ensure that the team does well," he said. "They should all come there to inspire the team."

The 'Junglists' went down 3-0 to Cavalier FC on Monday at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex. Arnett finished the game with 10 men as goalkeeper Mikhail Harrison was shown a red card after 27 minutes for arguing with the referee Oshane Nation. Goals from Chevonne Marsh, Nicholas Hamilton, and Alex Hamilton sealed the win for Rudolph Speid's men.

"It is possible, but we know it is a difficult task," Waite continued. "Goals win games, and we will be thinking of getting three or more within 90 minutes. We are the ones that put ourselves in that position, so we'll have to dig deep to advance to the next round."
