Paul 'Tegat' Davis will be familiar to the comfortable confines and surroundings of Mount Pleasant Football Academy. He was the one who guided the St Ann outfit to the nation's top flight in 2018.

Now in his second stint at the club on an interim basis, Davis knows that there are different expectations this time. And he wants to start as soon as this Sunday when his charges take on Humble Lion at the Effortville Community Centre on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

"It's a different set of guys than what I used to qualify [for the RSPL]. [But] These are good players and professionals. I think they can adapt quickly to this system," he said.

Expectations of coaches

Davis is hoping for a change in fortune for a squad still absorbing the news of Donovan Duckie's dismissal Monday night. But Davis, who had stints at Arnett Gardens and Montego Bay United, knows full well the expectations of coaches and the consequences of poor results.

"Coaches come and coaches go, because even myself, if I don't do well I can be fired just like any other coach," he said.

Davis will seek to bring an attacking style of football but maintains that his focus will be in maintaining balance.

"We will be attacking but in the same breath, [we are] using the same method in our defensive shape and everything to play complete football," he stated.

Davis expects a fierce opponent in Humble Lion but is concentration on the preparation of his squad to get them in the proper frame of mind.

"A win would be the ideal thing for us. I know that they are coming off of a 3-1 win over Arnett Gardens. They are home and they will be pumped. But I think we are ready. And we have two more days to really get into them. If they are in dreamland, [we] try and get them out of it because the work has to be done," he said.

"We have to concentrate, shut [Humble Lion] down and capitalise on their errors. [We] just need to go there and feel free and play football."
