West Ham United and Jamaica striker Michail Antonio has been out of action with COVID-19.

His club manager, David Moyes, told Sky Sports yesterday that this was the reason for his absence from the Hammers' Carabao Cup quarter-final match against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

"Michail Antonio tested positive about a week ago now, so we're getting him closer to being back. Obviously, he's not available tonight," Moyes said.

Antonio was replaced in the starting line-up by Jarrod Bowen, whose goal could not prevent a 2-1 loss.

Antonio has seven goals and five assists from 19 games in all competitions for West Ham this season, and also has two goals in three appearances since debuting for Jamaica against Panama in World Cup qualifying in September.

He is next expected to represent Jamaica when they face Mexico at the National Stadium on Thursday, January 27.
