Notis Heavyweight Rockaz release Garvey-inspired track
Notis Heavyweight Rockaz is upbeat about their brand new single, 'We Are The Builders'.
Released officially to the public yesterday, the duo has succeeded in creating a universe of words that is inspired by one of Jamaica's own national heroes, Marcus Garvey.
The drum-and-bass duo of Welshy Bass and Unga Barunga wrote the song in 2017 on Garvey's birthday, August 17, and the song is reflective of his teachings.
"It didn't come in a penning form; Unga and I were at the studio holding a vibes, and the words just came from nowhere," explained Welshy Bass.
Produced by Notis Productions, the track is an inspirational and motivational one. It is part of the group's plan to play their part in bringing about positive change in Jamaica and, by extension, the world.
"We want people to listen and remember who they are. you are important, you are a person of value, and do not dim your light. It doesn't matter where you are coming from, all that matters is where you are going," said Unga Barunaga.
Welshy Bass added, "I want it to reach, to be heard internationally. It is a good song with a great message and a reminder to remember your roots as humans."
So far, the feedback on the track has been tremendous, and it has been receiving constant rotation from Irie FM and other local stations.
The duo is known for tracks like Raggy Road, Miss You and No Bad Days. In their quest for international recognition, they have taken their sound around the world.
One of their most notable achievements is opening for New Zealand reggae band Katchafire on their 32-date international tour, with stops across the United States.
Distributed by Zojak Worldwide, We Are The Builders is available for streaming and purchase on all major digital platforms.
