Currenci decries violence on new single
Troubled by the violence in his home town, international dancehall artiste Currenci has released a new song with a positive message to counteract the negativity.
He has decided to kick-start his 2019 promotion with a powerful message in his new single, Dem Ya Time.
"Right now, I hope everyone would take the time out and listen to this track. So much violence in my home of Annotto Bay, St Mary, since the past two years. I was inspired by all that to create the powerful message throughout this song," said Currenci.
"As an artiste, I can't turn a blind eye to what has been happening in our country. It is a part of my duty to use my talent as a tool to help combat the crime and violence that has been taking place," he added.
The single is produced by St Thomas-based record label Medz bloQ Production.
It will be available on iTunes for purchase this month and will be distributed by Zojack Worldwide.
"In the coming months, I will be shooting and releasing a video which will premiere on local television shows across Jamaica. I have a small promotional tour lined up which I will use to gain the airplay that I need," he said.
The artiste, who gained momentum with his single Dancehall Maradona, expressed that he has been receiving positive feedback from the public and he feels that this year will bring his breakthrough.
"My fans are very supportive towards my career. They have been sharing and uploading my work on various websites and I am grateful for the support," said Currenci.
The artiste, who is always busy in the studio, said he's currently putting his all into promoting this song, and he is ready to make 2019 a successful one.
