Last week, reggae artiste Valentine Nakrumah Fraser, aka Ginjah, made a soulful outpouring of love and devotion to the queen of his heart, his mother, with the track ' Mama God Bless You' on the Sweet Music label.

The song was released on May 4, six days before Mother's' Day.

"I wrote this song when I saw that mothers were being called derogative names and being cursed even by their own children. When I realised how much my mom means to me, I put pen to paper. It wasn't hard to write, every child have a story about their mom, this is my story," he said.

Ginjah got real recognition more than a decade ago, when he did the song Never Lost My Way for producer Kemar 'Flava' McGregor.

He admits that the COVID-19 pandemic forced him to rethink the way he did business in the past.

"These days it's more of a social media thing, so I'm thinking of marketing myself more on these platforms since I'm not a social media artiste," he said. "This pandemic has the world on lockdown so I'm sending positive messages across the world, especially Jamaica. Stay safe, my people."
