Nyne Universe, an up-and-coming entertainer based in the United States of America, has vowed to take Flippa Mafia's place as the 'new Flossing King'.

Flippa Mafia, whose given name is Andrew Davis, is currently serving a 25-year sentence in US prison for distribution of cocaine and money laundering. During the time that he operated as an entertainer, Flippa's appearance on stage was marked by the pouring of bottles of champagne as he performed. He regularly threw thousands of US dollars into the crowd, but all that ended when he was nabbed by US law enforcers in 2015.

The dancehall scene has been without a 'Flossing King' since, but Nyne Universe said that it will not be long before the vacancy is filled because "dancehall need it".

"Di people dem need somebody weh a go pick up where Flippa left off and even take things to a new level," the 30-year-old entertainer, whose given name is Tifroy Clarke, said.

"Flossing is something weh di people dem need. It is the life of any party, an essential part of dancehall, and dats why me consider the Flossing King an essential worker. Dancehall is a hype kinda genre and yuh affi keep dat going and a flossing do dat. Flossing is to dancehall what Vybz Kartel is to Gaza; the lifeline. They go hand in hand," Nyne Universe said.

But, given how Flippa Mafia's story ended, THE WEEKEND STAR sought to quiz the aspiring artiste on where his 'flossing funds' would come from. He said that he owns several businesses across the US, the proceeds from which he will use to support the flossing lifestyle in the dancehall.

"I am a businessman, an entrepreneur. All my businesses are legal businesses so nobody nuh affi worry about that," he said.

Nyne Universe said that he has already been making a flossing statement on the entertainment scene, and cannot wait for COVID-19 restrictions in Jamaica to be relaxed so that people can start partying again.

"Although no party nah really gwaan a Jamaica, party a keep over here in the States and mi already a make my presence known. Mi already a do money pull-up and this weekend mi have an event a come up in the Bronx, New York, and mi have a US$2,000 fi just gi weh deh so. We lifestyle match we talk," he said.

The artiste, who is promoting his track Essential Worker, is not particularly concerned about being judged on Flippa's reputation.

"At the end of the day, people a go always talk weh dem wah talk, good or bad, and we can't really use that to hinder us. Regardless of what people have to say, I'm going to do what I need to do to make my mark in this business."
