Budding artiste Jevaughn Pinnock, who goes by the stage name 'Panasonic', aspires to be the next Jamaican artiste to break into the global music scene with his unique blend of reggae fusion, much like the iconic Shaggy and Sean Paul have.

He said that he is committed to honing his craft, and not only to achieve global recognition.

"I see it as a profession but it's not only about the money, it also has to do with culture. I take it seriously, [to] be another Sean Paul or Shaggy 'cause a years we don't have an artiste like that," he pointed out.

For Panasonic, music is a passion that is deeply rooted in his upbringing. He discovered his talent at a young age, performing freestyles while in primary school. His journey continued as he joined groups, participated in commercials, and began writing dub poems for his teachers. These experiences helped him realise his affinity for music and songwriting, leading him to pursue a career in the industry in his final year of DeCarteret College.

"I started out watching and listening to Shaggy and Sean Paul and noticed how they incorporate reggae or dancehall with different genres like hip-hop and pop. I tried it and it worked because I made a lot of friends just by singing the songs I wrote; people are always commending me," Panasonic told THE WEEKEND STAR.

"Dancehall is the breakout genre in Jamaica right now, and to progress I know I had to be able to do dancehall to get the attention in my home country, so that is what I am doing now. Masicka is one dancehall artiste who I pay attention to and learn from," he said.

With an impressive catalogue of 15 recorded songs, the up-and-coming artiste from Plowden district in Manchester has already captured the hearts of YouTube viewers and those who have seen him perform live.

"I want to be an artiste that does music that will have a good impact on the genre. I am versatile, so reggae fusion, dancehall and even Afrobeats are those [genres that] I want to take globally," he said.
