Macka Diamond confident of Grammy success
Dancehall and reggae recording artiste Macka Diamond is focusing on recording new material for projects that she believes could garner her not only another Grammy nomination, but a Grammy win.
The artiste recently collected her official Grammy certificate for her contributions to Sly and Robbie's Grammy-nominated album, Amazing. She saw this as additional motivation to create more internationally acclaimed recordings to add to her expansive catalogue which spans more than two decades.
"I'm always recording new music so this isn't new, but collecting my Grammy certificate really helped motivate me to refocus on getting more accolades with my recorded material. It's a great feeling and I want more of those," Macka Diamond admitted.
With a diverse international catalogue, Macka Diamond isn't new to topping charts worldwide and performing her material in different languages on events across the globe where dancehall is rarely heard. She is also no stranger to getting awards. Having received Caribbean awards like the QORIHC and IRAWMA, Macka Diamond has expressed certainty that she will get another Grammy nod before she hangs up her recording artiste cap.
"Making hit singles with longevity is always in my wheelhouse, songs like Bun Him and Dye Dye are still worldwide hits. A lot of times it's how the material is submitted and on which project which makes the difference between a hit song and an award-winning one," Macka Diamond added
She is now busy in studio recording new material with various producers. New recordings include Kitty, produced by Jason Emanuel from the Netherlands; African King by Paypaz Chasaz Music; While Dem A Watch, produced by Kemar Mcgreggor; and Workout by Supa Hype.
