Suspended sentence for coconut thief
A St Catherine man who invaded a man's property and stole a quantity of jelly coconuts was given a nine-month suspended sentence in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court recently.
Morris Gouldbourne, 29, from Westmore Gardens in Spanish Town, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Resident Magistrate Llyle Armstrong.
Allegations are that on September 4, 2015, at about 9:15 a.m., Gouldbourne invaded the complainant's property in Willowdene, St Catherine, climbed a coconut tree, and started to pick the fruits. The owner came home unexpectedly and held him at gunpoint. He stayed in the tree for 30 minutes until the police came and took him into custody.
He was subsequently charged with praedial larceny.
