Foreign nationals charged

Three foreign nationals who were held at the Norman Manley International Airport on Sunday with tens of thousands of US and other foreign currencies have been charged under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

They have been identified as: Claudia Clijdesale, 30, of a Suriname address; Ingrid Asaitie, 31, also of a Suriname address; and Delroy Sanduliet, 30, of a French Guiana address.

CRIMINALPROPERTY

Following investigations, they were formally charged on Thursday with possession of criminal property, concealing criminal property, attempting to leave Jamaica with criminal property, facilitating the retention of criminal property, and conspiracy.

All three are scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday, August 2.

Reports from the Narcotics police are that at about 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, the three were about to board a flight destined for Guyana, when they were accosted.

They were searched by detectives and found to have US$93,000, SR$325 (Surinamese dollars), €150 and J$50 concealed on their persons. The monies were seized and they were arrested.
