Scammers target Ghetto Michael Jackson
Wessy Wessy, manager for fast-rising Internet sensation Ghetto Jamaica Michael Jackson, says he is disappointed that after toiling to create a buzz around his entertainer, people would now seek to profit from their hard work.
He said that since a flurry of media interviews last week, there has been a slew of fake pages popping up bearing his client's image and his contact information.
Create fake pages
"Mi know how people stay, innu, but it still sad. The yute not even buss good, and people already a create fake pages to take people money from them and box food outta di yute mouth," he said. "Me feel a way because already, people start DM me and say dem send people money for shout-outs and promo videos from Michael and nuh get it. And me affi a tell dem say a nuh our page dat. Each time me see a fake page pop up, me report it and try to get it removed, but dem a come up nuff."
He added: "Him nuh start make nuh money yet and people a do dat. Di yute just start build and already bad mind active. When nothing never a gwaan, nobody was looking at him, and now him a get some attention, a dis people ago come wid."
Wessy Wessy said his client is saddened by the unscrupulous actions.
"Him can't believe say people woulda really do supmn like this. Him nah make it get him down, still. Him just a tell mi fi make sure say people know the real page, and a dat me a do," he said.
He noted that he has started enquiring about the process for getting his client's official social media accounts verified.
"We already start to find out how to get the blue tick because when yuh have that, people know exactly who you are and say a di real deal. When we get that, the fake pages dem won't get fi take people money and pretend like a we a do business. It's all a matter of time," he said. "We just want people to be aware of the fake pages and do not send your money to any unauthorised person. The only page for Ghetto Michael Jackson is @ghetto_jamaica_michael_jackson."
