Police inspector dies suddenly
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) yesterday reported that one of its members, Inspector Franklin Hunter, sub-officer in charge at Mount Salem in the St James Police Division, had passed away.
According to a media release from the police's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), on behalf of the JCF Area 1 Commander, Hunter's sudden passing occurred while he was off the island on leave, where he had a medical emergency. He reportedly collapsed and never recovered. The CCU said Hunter "served with distinction at Mt Salem for approximately five years, leaving an indelible mark on the community and the Jamaica Constabulary Force".
"Inspector Hunter's passing is a profound loss for our organisation, the community, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. He was an exemplary officer who consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence and professionalism in his role," the statement said.
"His remarkable work in the zone of special operations set a high standard for others to follow, earning him the respect from his fellow colleagues as well as members of the Jamaica Defence Force, with who he worked closely," the statement continued.
Hunter was described as a respected station manager who excelled in ensuring accountability and adhering to the highest standards.
"His dedication and unwavering commitment to his duties made a significant impact on the Mount Salem community and beyond," the statement said. "We extend our heartfelt condolences to Inspector Hunter's family, friends, colleagues, and the entire community he served. We will remember him as a highly valued member of our organisation and a true asset to the St James Police Division. May his soul rest in eternal peace."
