August 21, 2026

A seemingly trivial dispute over a bath pan turned deadly in Kingston last night when a Caribbean Maritime University student was allegedly stabbed to death during a fight at home.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Tristan Parkes, a CMU student of Donmair Close, Kingston 19.

Reports are that about 7:50 p.m. on August 20, Parkes was at the address when an argument reportedly developed between him and a 24-year-old man over a bath pan.

The dispute allegedly escalated into violence, with Parkes reportedly using a shovel to hit the younger man in the face, causing an injury.

Parkes then allegedly picked up a machete, resulting in a physical tussle between the two.

During the struggle, the 24-year-old allegedly used a knife to stab Parkes in the right side of his chest.

Parkes was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Constant Spring Criminal Investigation Branch has launched an investigation into the fatal stabbing.
