Fletcher at junior college

Neither Montego Bay United nor Harbour View will have the services of former Cornwall College standout Jourdaine Fletcher when the Premier League season begins on Sunday.

Fletcher is in the United States attending San Jacinto Junior College in Houston, Texas, where he also plays for that college's football team.

Fletcher wore the number 23 jersey and scored in his team's winning 5-1 effort against Paris Junior College two Saturdays ago.

Fletcher, who won the Golden Boot as the top scorer in Cornwall College's 2016 winning daCosta Cup side, was last month the centre of contention between Harbour View and MoBay, after it was revealed that the Stars of the East had expressed an interest in signing the player from the western Jamaica side.

However, Montego Bay United owner Orville Powell said Fletcher was not for sale. Harbour View's Carvel Stewart later told STAR Sports that the 19-year-old had never shown up to the club one day for training.

In May, Fletcher was dropped from the Reggae Boyz training squad for the Gold Cup by coach Theodore Whitmore for matters concerning the player's discipline and training regime.

San Jacinto Junior College is the alma mater of former Jamaican athletes Sandie Richards and Merlene Fraser and NBA player Sam Cassell.
