Ambitious: Tallawahs' Oshane Thomas wants to be top CPL wicket taker this season

Jamaica Tallawahs fast bowler Oshane Thomas said his aim is to be the leading wicket taker in this year's Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Twenty20 competition, which bowls off on August 8.

The 21-year-old, who has been a part of the Windies A team for the past year, picked up four wickets in two games for the Jamaican franchise last season.

However, the powerfully-built pacer, said that he has worked very hard on improving his craft because he is now also a much more confident player.

"I have been playing a lot of cricket in the past four months and I have been training very hard, so I feel pretty confident going into this year's CPL and I am looking forward to doing well," said Thomas.

"My aim to finish with the most wickets in the CPL because I have been working hard and I am determined to achieve this," he said.

"I was in England recently with the Windies A team and I think I did pretty well because I picked up a five wicket haul against India. This gave me a bit more push and a bit more drive for this year's CPL," said Thomas.

The pacer has picked up eleven wickets for the Jamaica Scorpions in six matches since his debut in 2016.

He added that he has done a lot of hard work in training to impress the coaching staff, and it is now up to them to decide the starters.

"I am just training hard, staying focused, and showing the coaches what I can do. Hopefully, I can make the starting the eleven and take it from there," Thomas said.

"I have been putting in the work because I went to a two month fasting camp in Antigua and I am physically fit and ready for the competition," he said.
