Cavalier overpower TG in RSPL
Cavalier SC dealt Tivoli Gardens their fourth defeat of the 2018-19 Red Stripe Premier League season on a night when veteran striker Jermaine 'Teddy' Johnson made his season's debut.
Nichalos Hamilton (59th) and Alex Marshall (84th) secured the three points for Rudolph Speid's side, which was back to full strength with the return of Jamoi Topey and others from the national under 20 team.
Cavalier are now on 16 points and are back in playoff contention.
"Maybe it was a mistake to try to play those three games without some of our top players but we did and I think this victory put us back in the top six and that is where we want to stay," Speid said.
"We came here and we ensured that we got all three points and that is what we prepared all week for."
After Cavalier took the lead, Tivoli called on the ageing limbs of Johnson much to the delight of fans at the Edward Seaga Complex.
Johnson and Newton Sterling created a flurry of chances but could not find the back of the net.
"I am still not 100 per cent but I had to come out here and try to help my team. Hopefully we get back on winning track because it was a bad result for me and the team," he said.
