General Secretary of the Professional Football Jamaica Limited (PFJL), Arlene Martin, says an assessment of the weather conditions will be done before a decision is taken on whether to play today's Jamaica Premier League (JPL) game between Harbour View and Cavalier at the UWI/Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence.

Yesterday's JPL second-round fixtures, Arnett Gardens versus Tivoli Gardens and Vere United versus Portmore United, were postponed after Tropical Storm Elsa dumped several inches of rain on the island and flooded several roads.

The forecast is for better weather today as the storm moves towards Cuba and away from Jamaica. However, the outer bands of the storm could still affect Jamaica. As a result, Martin said the PFJL will continue to monitor updates from the meteorological centre and make a full assessment of the match venue before making a final decision on today's fixture.

"We will continue to assess and monitor the bulletins and other conditions and go from there. So we are waiting to see," she said.

She added that, ideally, they would want the rescheduled games to be played this week, but said that it is a decision for the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) competitions department to make. "We would like them to be played this week, but that would have to come from the JFF competitions department," Martin said.
