STAR Sports understands that four high school track and field meets set for Saturday are now off.

The four are the Douglas Forrest Meet at the GC Foster College in St Catherine, the Charlie Fuller Field Event Meet at Manchester High School in Manchester, the Pat Anderson Development Meet at Kirkvine, Manchester, and another at Stadium East in Kingston. Their staging would have aided in junior athletes' preparation for the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships in March.

A reliable source says the meets have been called off because organisers did not submit their COVID-19 protocols to the Government in the required time to get approval of the needed six weeks before their staging.

It is likely that three of the meets will be rescheduled while the Douglas Forrest event, which is understood to have had difficulty gaining sponsorship, will not have a new date.

The North Central Development meet at Discovery Bay, St Ann, the Central Hurdles Throws and Relays at GC Foster, Big Shot Invitational at Excelsior High School and the McKenley/Wint Invitational at Calabar High School, both in Kingston, are set for next Saturday.
