Have a job but I need more money

Dear Pastor,

I'm a young woman who has a lot to accomplish and a lot planned. I'm currently in a job which I work six days per week, but my pay is not enough to cover my expenses and plans.

I don't party a lot. All I do is save. My job has helped me but somehow I believe I should move on. I've been here for four and a half years.

This job doesn't allow me to have a social life, so because of this I've lost a lot of friends and I hardly spend time with my family. All I do is go home to sleep and go to work the following day.

I don't have any qualifications, nor do I have another income. I'd like some advice on what to do. I'm in a dilemma. I'd like to go to school to get a trade and subjects but if I stop working to go, I'll be begging or going around with men and I don't want to do that.

My biggest dreams are to help my mom, get a home and go to college. I just want to do good and do better but I don't know where to start. Can you please help me, Pastor?

Q.S.

Dear Q.S.,

First of all, I would like to beg you to change your attitude. You are doing very well. You have a job and there are so many young people who are unable to get jobs. You have one, so you can hold on to it and stop complaining.

You say that you do not have much of a social life and I can understand that, but you have goals and objectives and you want to work to accomplish these goals.

BE PROUD OF YOURSELF

You need to be proud of yourself because some young people are only drifting along. You are not like that. You have your plans. You are impeded by not having enough money to do the things that you would like to do immediately.

However, 'Rome was not built in a day'. So you cannot get all that you need in a day. But if you save a little each week you would accomplish your goals.

In time, you will have enough to go to college. I will suggest also that you look into the newspapers for scholarships and even for better jobs, but please do not give up your present job unless you have secured a new job.

I understand how much you want to assist your mother but I am sure that your mother would understand what you are going through. Just put God first in your life and you will succeed. My prayers are with you.

Pastor
