Pregnant for my rapist

September 02, 2020

Dear Pastor,

Sorry for writing to you so late but I have no choice. I am 18 years old and I am a young Christian who was raped two months ago by my mom's childhood friend.

When I told her, her response was that she didn't believe that her good friend would do something like that.

Currently, I am pregnant and scared to death and I don't know what to do. Many times I just feel like giving up on this thing called life because it is so unfair to be living with parents that you aren't able to talk to. Especially about serious matters like this.

Please help! I need your suggestion on what to do.

T.M.

Dear T.M.,

I deeply regret hearing that you were raped and that you have become pregnant. You have alleged that the individual who raped you is a friend of your mother and that your mother does not believe you.

Whether she believes you or not, this matter should be reported to the police. And it should be done right away. You need not be afraid to do what is right.

Therefore, I am suggesting to you that whether or not your mother believes you, this matter should be taken in hand.

The police would deal with the matter and give you all the assistance you will need. I am sorry you did not send me your phone contact. I suggest that you do so.

I would like to talk to you. I repeat, do not be afraid. Report this matter immediately to the police.

The department within the Jamaica Constabulary Force that deals with rape cases is called CISOCA, the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.

The numbers for the unit are: 876-926-4079 or 876-544-6140. Call them today.
