Tasha T performs with orchestra
RasVibe Records recording artiste, Tasha T, participated in the Brott Music Education Concert at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
She performed with an orchestra and played the role of
narrator, focussing on the revered and historical story of the Underground Rail Road.
During her performance, Tasha T delivered a soul-stirring rendition of Bob Marley's Redemption Song, a big hit with the audience. The event was produced by
highly respected Canadian music conductor Boris Brott for whom it is named.
"This was my first time performing with an orchestra. It was an amazing experience. I am truly humbled and grateful for the opportunity to be able to incorporate my style of music in a production of this nature. I'm also pleased that the students who attended the event were able to learn about the Underground Rail Road. I believe that they will now have a greater understanding of some of the struggles that black people endured during slavery," said Tasha T.
This year has been a fantastic one for Tasha T. She received an award for 'Top International Deejay/Singjay' from the Reggae Exclusive Awards and 'Top Female Multi-Taltented- Educator' from the Youth in Progress Awards. Earlier this year she also won the 'Best Caribbean Style' award at the Black Canadian Awards.
"I've had an excellent year. I was on the road a lot promoting my album in Canada, the US, the UK and Jamaica. I'm very happy to be able to open more doors for reggae music. When it comes to educating, motivating, inspiring and uplifting the people of the world, I have no hesitation. It was a tremendous year."
