Two children die in Cross Roads fire

A lit mosquito destroyer that came in contact with a flammable material resulted in a fire that claimed the lives of two children on Tuesday morning.

Ten year old Nyheema Barrett, who attended the Alman Town Primary School, and four-year-old Shaeem Green, a student at the Mulvina White Basic school, died in the blaze which took place at at 5 Heathfield Road in downtown Kingston.

“We got the call at approximately 4:13 am, three units responded to the fire one from York Park, Trench Town and Half Way Tree fire stations. When we arrived the building was completely engulfed. We learnt that two persons were unaccounted for, when cooling down ended, we discovered the bodies of two children," Horace Thomas, assistant superintendent at the York Park fire station in St Andrew, said.
