Pregnant woman facing cocaine charges

A woman found herself before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court answering to drug-related charges. Georgia Brown was charged with possession of, dealing in, conspiracy to export and attempting to export cocaine.

She was charged along with Philippe Demmar. They have not yet entered a plea.

The allegations are that both the accused tried to send drugs through the postal service. The court heard that the accused went to a post office in Manchester to send a package.

The package was searched and was found to contain a white powdery substance weighing 7.68 ounces. The police were alerted and Brown and Demmar were later arrested.

When they appeared before the court on Tuesday, Senior Parish judge Lori-Ann Cole-Montague added conditions to their bail. The accused are to surrender their travel documents, and report to the police twice a week and a stop order was implemented. They were also instructed to give their fingerprints to the police.

Brown is represented by Isat Buchanan, while Demmar is to settle legal representation by the next court date.

They are set to return to court on January 13, 2022.
