A man allegedly assaulted a Corporate Area businessman because his motorcycle was disturbing him.

The accused, Anthony Wright, made his first appearance in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court yesterday to answer to charges of unlawful wounding, malicious destruction of property and common assault. The court heard that, on February 9 about 4 p.m., the complainant was at his business place when Wright entered and informed him that his four-wheeled motorcycle was making too much noise. A fight later ensued between the two men and Wright is alleged to have scratched and dented a car belonging to the complainant's daughter. He also allegedly damaged tables and chairs of the establishment.

Wright allegedly told the complainant "Yow [expletive] boy, look from when mi a tell yuh say yuh bike a mek a bag a noise and a disturb me and me property." The damage is said to have valued $80,000. A chef at the establishment reportedly tried to intervene, but Wright allegedly used an instrument to attack him and threw him to the ground. The chef suffered injuries to his elbow. Attorney-at-law Matthew Hyatt, who is representing Wright, asserted his client's innocence and asked for an adjournment to accommodate further discussions with his client. The matter is set for mention on June 28.
