Terrance Hinds showed his class as a genuine all-rounder as his big half-century knock helped propel the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force to a formidable 302 against the Jamaica Scorpions on day one of their final-round West Indies Championship encounter at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.

Hinds, batting at No. 8, scored a brilliant 94 to help rescue the Red Force innings, which at one stage was in tatters at 119 for seven before his heroics.

The right-hander faced 121 balls and hit 10 fours and three sixes, as he shared in two crucial partnerships to breathe life into the Red Force's innings.

Hinds was the ninth wicket to fall, as he was trapped in front by pacer Ojay Shields, who ended with two wickets for 72 runs.

Earlier, Tion Webster and wicket-keeper Joshua Da Silva put on 71 runs in a fifth wicket partnership, with Da Silva getting 39 before he became the second of three wickets for Derval Green, who, in the process, snared his 100th first-class wicket.

Webster made 30 before he fell to Marquino Mindley, who also claimed two wickets.

Left-arm spinner Jeavor Royal also picked up two wickets.

The Scorpions will resume today on five for one.
