Cops use technology to nab suspect
Detectives assigned to the St Andrew South Police Division have arrested and charged an AC technician in connection with the September 26 murder of 25-year-old Omeila Walker on Hibiscus Avenue, Kingston 11.
Charged is 30-year-old Antoneo Palmer of Marlboro Avenue, Kingston 20. Reports are that at 7:25 p.m., Palmer rented a motor car and, accompanied by other men, drove to Walker’s home. It is alleged that an armed man exited the vehicle and opened fire, hitting Walker, before re-entering the vehicle and fleeing the scene. The police were summoned, and Walker was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
An investigation was launched, and the vehicle was identified through CCTV footage. Palmer subsequently surrendered to the police and was charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, and misprision of a felony. The police are working to apprehend the other suspects involved. The division’s crime officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Keaton Barrett, highlighted the role of technology and the work of detectives following the incident.
“This breakthrough is a part of the ongoing commitment of investigators to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of violent offenders. We are utilising technology, among other mechanisms, to ensure that criminals are apprehended.”
