Anderson pressed world leader Jasmine Camacho of Puerto Rico all the way to finish a close second in her heat. She then took advantage after the Puerto Rican's was disqualified for false-starting in the final.

Poor start

Despite a poor start Anderson ran on strongly to claim a good win. American Christina Clemons took second in 12.63 while Jamaica's Danielle Williams was third in a season's best 12.65.

Earlier in the women's 400 metres hurdles Jamaicans placed second and third. Ronda Whyte raced to second in a season's best 54.33 seconds as Shian Salmon was third in a personal best 54.97. American Shamier Little won the event in a world leading 53.12.
