'Ackee and breadfruit' weed destined for Germany

November 07, 2017

Ten carton boxes containing 24 tins each labelled in a manner suggesting that they contained ackee and breadfruit were found to contain compressed ganja.

The drug, which weighed approximately 240lbs and has an estimated street value of $1.2 million, was discovered in a luggage container that was destined to Munich, Germany.

Detectives from the Narcotics Division seized the ganja following the find at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James, last Thursday.

No one was taken into custody.
