An Ohio woman had given up hope of seeing her wedding dress again after a dry cleaner mix-up three decades ago until her daughter's friend saw photos of the dress on Facebook.
Michelle Havrilla was nearly speechless after getting the dress back last week for the first time since her 1985 wedding.
Her dress was put in the wrong box by a now-defunct dry cleaner in Willowick and stored in another family's attic.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports Ame Bartlebaugh found the dress on February 4 when she went looking for her mother's wedding dress.
She posted about the mix-up on Facebook, and Havrilla was reunited with the dress within a day.
Bartlebaugh hopes social media will help her find her mom's dress before her own wedding next year.
Man fights bear for attacking puppy
A Maine man says he punched and kicked a 150-pound bear, scaring it away after it attacked his puppy in the woods.
Twenty-nine-year-old Dustin Gray said the bear lunged at him and his 11-month-old puppy on Monday. The 6-foot-5 man tells the Bangor Daily News that he punched and kicked the bear until it fled and knocked him over in the process.
Gray suffered scratches and bruises, but his Labrador mix, Clover, suffered severe puncture wounds. The dog was being treated.
Gray said the attack happened near Route 1A in Dedham when he stopped to let the puppy relieve herself. The Maine Warden Service is investigating.
Bear attacks are unusual and even rarer in the winter when bears are supposed to be hibernating.
Stranger spanks two-year-old boy
Police say a stranger spanked a man's two-year-old son at a grocery store in Georgia when the toddler kept asking his dad for a candy bar.
A Newnan police report says 62-year-old Juan Martinez was arrested Tuesday night. Police say Martinez smelled like alcohol and slurred his speech.
The two-year-old's father, James Morris, told The Newnan Times-Herald that his son was asking him for a candy bar in the store's checkout line when Martinez slapped his son's hand and bottom. Morris says his son was not hurt.
Police say Martinez was arrested on charges including battery and obstruction. News outlets reported Thursday that police body camera video shows officers struggling to arrest Martinez.
Martinez is jailed on a $3,390 bond. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
Naked models parade in the cold
Cold feet can't stop naked models from parading around New York City.
Dozens of body-painted models walked through the chilly streets and posed for photos in a drizzle on Saturday as part of the Polar Bear Paint, a nude spin on the traditional polar bear plunges that see people in swimsuits dive into frigid waters to celebrate the New Year.
The Polar Bear Paint was organised by artist Andy Golub (GAH'-lub), who uses body painting as a way to promote human connection through art.
The models were painted in a Times Square studio, and then gathered outside, where the temperature was about 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius) and a fairly heavy rain subsided and then stopped.
Golub says the Polar Bear Paint models "almost brought the sunshine" with them.
