PNP moves to suspend JLP councillor
The minority caucus of the People's National Party (PNP) in the St James Municipal Corporation has served notice to bring a motion to have embattled Jamaica Labour Party councillor David Brown suspended for allegedly verbally abusing a woman on social media.
Brown, a first-time councillor, was elected on a Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) ticket. He represents the Montego Bay West division.
The notice to table a motion for the suspension of Councillor Brown was served by Kerry Thomas, PNP councillor for the Mount Salem division.
Thomas served the notice last Thursday as Jamaica and the rest of the world paused to celebrate International Women's Day under the theme '#pressforprogress'.
The motion to have Brown suspended for a period will be tabled and discussed on April 11 in a JLP-dominated 17-member corporation. The PNP has only four councillors to the JLP's 13.
