The state-run Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is advising commuters to exercise extreme caution when using the Mandela Highway in St Catherine.

This, following another round of traffic changes implemented by the National Works Agency (NWA) on Sunday, April 1.

According to the NWA, vehicles heading from the direction of Spanish Town will be allowed on to the new section of road, between the Highway 2000 East/West Off Ramp and Tom Cringle Drive.

Traffic heading from Kingston will also use the new road but those persons wishing to access businesses in the Ferry community, must turn at Tom Cringle Drive.

Paul Abrahams, JUTC managing director, said while the improvement work is necessary, he is extremely concerned about the lack of consultation.

He states further that it appears no provision has been made for the pickup and set down of passengers, which is a significant risk to commuters in and around the Ferry community.
