Janet Jackson thanked her fans for their "love" as she celebrated her 52nd birthday on Wednesday.

The Together Again hitmaker took to Instagram to thank her loyal supporters for all their sweet messages to mark her birthday.

It will no doubt be a great year for Janet as it was recently revealed that she is set to receive the Icon Award at this year's Billboard Music Awards.

Jackson will be handed the honour at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday, where she will also take to the stage for her first televised performance in nine years.

Jackson will also have a busy summer ahead of her; she recently announced she would be extending her State of the World tour by adding 11 dates in North America.

Serena Williams' father couldn't walk her down the aisle because he was too nervous.

The tennis star was without her father Richard Williams by her side on her big day because he was wracked with nerves by the thought of all eyes on him.

Speaking in her documentary Being Serena, she said: "He was in New Orleans, he had a suit, and I know he was really excited. But then he wrote me and said: 'Serena, I don't want you to be mad at me, but I just can't walk you down the aisle. I'm not myself anymore. I'm just too nervous ...'"

Williams said that she completely understood that he didn't want to be up there in front of many people.

"Our family knows what we have. We just want each other to be happy. That's what matters. I don't think anything could ever change that," she said.

Williams tied the knot with Alexis Ohanian in November 2017, only a few months after the arrival of their baby Alexis, now eight months old.

The 24-year-old pop megastar had just finished performing a concert at Manchester Arena in May last year when a suicide bomber exploded a nail bomb outside the venue, killing 22 people and injuring many more.

She then staged a benefit concert in the city a week later to raise money for those involved in the horrific ordeal and has now said the event is still "painful" for her to think about.

"There are so many people who have suffered such loss and pain. The processing part is going to take forever. It's the absolute worst of humanity. That's why I did my best to react the way I did. The last thing I would ever want is for my fans to see something like that happen and think it won," she said.

The young star recently released No Tears Left To Cry, which touches on her feelings following the attack.
