Quarter-final - Madrid beat Juventus 4-3 on aggregate (won 3-0 in Turin and lost 1-3 at home)

Semi-final - Madrid overcame Bayern Munich 4-3 on aggregate (won the away match 2-1 and drew 2-2 at Santiago Bernabeu)

Liverpool:

Liverpool outplayed Germain side Hoffenheim 6-3 on aggregate (2-1 win away and 4-2 at home) in the playoffs to reach the group stage.

Liverpool topped Group E with 12 points, which had Sevilla, Spartak Moscow and Maribor.

Round of 16 - Liverpool thrashed Porto 5-0 on aggregate (5-0 win away and 0-0 draw at home)

Quarter-final - Liverpool outplayed English Premier League champions Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate (3-0 win at home and 2-1 away)

Semi-final - Liverpool beat Roma 7-6 on aggregate (won 5-2 at home in Anfield and lost 2-4 in Rome)
