A Montana mortuary business must pay a woman $50,000 after her husband was cremated against his wishes.

The Great Falls Tribune reports that a jury found a mortician at Miser Mortuaries in Conrad negligent in the decision to cremate 64-year-old Robert Yeager of Ulm after he died of liver and heart disease in October 2012.

Enid Yeager told jurors that mortuary staff pushed her towards cremation because the larger casket needed to bury her husband would be costly.

Miser's attorneys said mortician John Nash simply recommended Robert Yeager be cremated because he couldn't have an open casket funeral due to the swollen condition of his body. Nash said Enid Yeager signed off on having him cremated.

Jurors on Wednesday found both the mortuary and Enid Yeager partially liable. She had sought $1 million in damages.

Authorities say a 48-year-old Florida man raised a can of beer and chugged it after a sheriff's deputy stopped him on suspicion of drunk driving.

Daryl Royal Riedel told Monroe County Sheriff's investigators he was scared when he fled in his pickup truck as Deputy Anthony Lopez stepped out of his patrol car last Thursday. Riedel drove for a short distance before stopping.

Riedel has three prior DUI convictions between 2003 and 2010 and a fourth is pending from 2017.

The report says Riedel got out of his truck, beer can in his hand and chugged it.

Riedel faces numerous charges, including felony DUI, fleeing from a deputy, driving with a suspended licence and failure to submit a breath test.

He's in jail without bond. Records don't list a lawyer.

An emergency slide was accidentally deployed from a plane at a Connecticut airport, causing the flight to be delayed for several hours.

Delta officials at Bradley International Airport tell WVIT-TV that the chute was deployed before passengers boarded a flight to Detroit last Thursday.

No one was hurt, and no damage has been reported.

Delta says the flight had 158 passengers, and about two dozen went on a later flight, while the rest were accommodated on other flights.
