Diamond Music Empire signs Chin
Dancehall artiste and former Gully Bop manager, Shauna Chin, has inked a production and booking deal with US-based label, Diamond Music Empire.
"They heard my music on the Internet and loved my sound, and they sent someone to find me, and I liked the terms of the agreement so we are now in business together," said the artiste, whose real name is Laniece Shauna Anderson.
The first single on the deal, My Life, was released on the Diamond Music Empire label, at the weekend. Fans have greeted the news well on social media with hundreds of comments across various platforms.
"I feel great about the overwhelming response on the Facebook and the Instagram. It makes me know that people have not given up on me, and I will be working hard and releasing great songs. watch out for Shauna Chin in 2016," she said.
Chin was born in Portland. After completing her studies at Port Antonio High School, she migrated to Philadelphia where she lived for almost a decade, before she returned to Jamaica.
She started her recording career about six months ago. her previous songs include Wife Me Name and Jah A Guide. My Life is expected to eclipse her previous songs, and is being touted in dancehall circles as her first bonafide hit.
"We believe she is very talented. She has a unique voice, that reminds me of Sister Nancy, and we believe (we) will have great success together ," an official representative of Diamond Music Empire.
Chin, 26, reflected on 2015. Despite unfortunate incidents, she is, generally, pleased.
"It has been a good year. Gully Bop had bookings all year and I got a chance to tour and performed in Europe and the Caribbean," she said.
