There are few selectors with more buzz in dancehall today than Montego Bay-based DJ Dexta Peppa, who has a reputation for 'vibesy' juggling and impressive Vybz Kartel dubplates.

He delivered an impressive set, playing after Fire Links and Tony Matterhorn, during the packed Vybz Kartel vs World Boss dance at Oneil's Place, recently, and the dancehall community is buzzing about his high-octane set.

"The ting up right now. mi get mad respect fi how mi 'shell' Teacha old-school party; mi is a real Gaza fan, so mi haffi represent," the selector, born Dexter Smith, said.

He attended St James High, but fell in love with music as his father was an instrumental member of legendary sound system Heat Wave, so he got into the sound system culture at a young age.

In 2007, he went solo because the demand for his special brand of juggling had increased.

"At this time, when mi start trod the road, mi meet Vybz Kartel and mi get into the whole Gaza movement, and mi ah endorse him for more than 10 years now. Everywhere mi go, ah straight Gaza mi play, mi have about 20 Kartel songs on dubplate," he said.

True to form, he will be releasing an 'Addi Only 2016' mixtape this week.

"The mixtape ah go hard. DJ Untouchable and Shotta Hype of the Peppa Squad, help put it together, it ah go 'shell down' MoBay, Jamaica and the world; big up Salt Spring, Granville, Flankers, Canterbury, Rose Heights, dem love the Gaza," he said.
