Fashion show Evoke set for today

Liquid Gold Modelling Agency will host the ninth staging of Evoke, the fashion show of elegance.

The show will be held today at White Bones, Mannings Hill Road, St Andrew and will cost patrons $1,000.

According to CEO Jaime Rose, this fashion show is like no other due to its focus on youth development.

"This show is different because it will be giving young people the opportunity to network with people. The audience will also be comprised of music producers, who use make-up artists, video producers, store owners etc., so the show itself will be a network," Rose said.

The CEO also said the fashion profession is extremely competitive, and students leaving educational institutions are facing an uphill task. Therefore, creating a market is extremely necessary for the development of a local industry.

He also argued that lending support to Evoke will go along will the current drive to generate support for goods and services produced by Jamaicans.

"Persons should support Evoke because it is important to Jamaica. The island has always had a lot of tailors and designers.

"However, only a few survived because everybody finds it convenient to support imported products.

"UTech and Edna Manley are doing a tremendous job at reviving this thing. I want to be a vehicle to help these people who invested in their degree, so Evoke is the platform to help these youths become established," Rose said.
