DJ Frass bask in Morgan Heritage's Grammy success
DJ Frass is still basking in the glow of knowing he produced a track on the Grammy-winning album, 'Strictly Roots', by reggae group, Morgan Heritage.
The album topped the Billboard Reggae Album Chart when released last April. The single, produced by DJ Frass, is the number-eight track, Why Them Come Around?.
"I feel great to know that I am one of the producers included on a Grammy Award-winning album. Not everyone gets that opportunity. I am 29 so I know that is a great achievement, not just for me but for the industry because it shows that, although we come from the garrison, we can do great things, without a new need to rely on negativity to get there," DJ Frass, born Andre Gordon, said.
Having toured Europe as Mavado's DJ, Frass experienced, first-hand, the vast audience drum-and-bass-driven roots reggae commands, in comparison to the fan base for hardcore dancehall.
It is not surprising that he is now getting plaudits for his work in reggae.
He has not forgotten his dancehall roots. DJ Frass has been locked in the studios working on Alkaline's album, New Levels Unlocked.
"That album is going to revolutionise dancehall," he said.
He recently produced the Mavado hit single, In God We Trust, and Alkaline's single, One More Time, on the 'All-inclusive' rhythm, which has racked 300,000 views in three weeks.
"We are just going to keep working and making hits on top of hits," he said.
