Portmore Spring Break on Saturday
The communities of St Catherine are eagerly anticipating the inaugural staging of Portmore Spring Break this Saturday, an event that could bring big benefits to the Sunshine City.
"This is the first year we are keeping Portmore Spring Break. It will be in the Jungle Fyah parking lot. We are expecting almost 2,000 people to attend the event, and that could lead to a spill over of business for vendors, small hotel owners, and other business people," Franklyn 'Father Frank' Mason, proprietor of Jungle Fyah Jerk Centre and Lounge, said. "We have food, liquor, and entertainment in one area. We are getting a lot of support from people in the community."
Heavyweight acts confirmed for the event include Gyptian, Macka Diamond, Teflon, Chin Chin, Dann I, Little Kirk, Johnny P, Maestro Don, I Wayne, Indecka and the Firm.
"If you enjoyed Portmore Jamboree, you will love Spring Break. Pool will be here, water games, prizes and surprises, and giveaways, enjoyment for everyone. This is the start of something great. Link up!" popular artiste Dimon Treajah said.
In keeping with their promise to stage another high-level production, the artistes will be backed by the J Fyah band. Entertainment will be provided by the J Fyah sound, while the event will be hosted by Boasy Boy Floyd, Honey B from SunCity, Beekie Bailey, and Supa Hype.
"Spring Break has a great line-up and the admission is straight recession style, but VIP is $1,000," Father Frank said.
The intention, the organisers say, is to run a tight production which will allow artistes reasonable time to perform and please their fans. The sponsors are Rizing Stars Records, SunCity Radio, J Wray and Nephew, and Frank's Restaurant.
