Downtown Kingston for Carnival Pon Di Road finale
Downtown Kingston will explode in a kaleidoscope of colour today when Digicel and Appleton Special's Carnival Pon Di Road makes its final stop at St William Grant Park.
The street carnival, geared at taking the carnival experience to Jamaicans islandwide with stops in St Thomas, Mandeville, Montego Bay, and Brown's Town, has found much favour with soca lovers and revellers.
The 'party animal', Kurt Riley, is geared up for the final fIte: "It was one of the boldest moves when Appleton Special and Digicel chose to take the carnival experience throughout the island with Carnival Pon Di Road. The fusion was well received last year, and this year, it's only got better."
Riley tells patrons what to expect from the powder-filled party: "The vibe: 2016 soca music fused with other soca hits from the past blended with dancehall, dancers, and powder throws! It will be a hit. With free admission, Appleton Special rum mixes all night, and responsible drinking being pushed, along with a full entertainment package and Digicel credit giveaways. This event can't be missed. What Appleton Special and Digicel have done is to create a $6,000 entertainment package and have brought it to patrons free. It cyaan get betta dan dat, I swear!"
With the carnival season coming to a close, the Carnival Pon Di Road finale promises to be a memorable one, according to Tamika West, J. Wray and Nephew Limited's marketing manager for Dark Spirits. "Carnival has become ingrained in Jamaica's culture, so we saw it fit to make the carnival experience truly inclusive for all Jamaicans. We took it a step further by not only offering Carnival Pon Di Road free of charge, but also taking the fIte directly to our patrons across the island. Tonight's finale will be one to remember with a superb #RumRules entertainment package, explosions of coloured powder, and transformations into jungle-themed party animals."
The fIte begins at 5 p.m. sharp. Patrons can take advantage of exclusive $1,000 special bundle deals of two 200ml of Appleton Special, J$100 Digicel credit, and an Appleton Special tumbler. Patrons MUST be 18 or older to enter.
