Avikon makes name as beatmaker
Ultra-talented beat maker Avikon is fast making a name for himself for dope beats and innovative, brash productions that are on the leading edge of what defines 21st-century dancehall.
He is getting a lot of recognition for building the Drugs rhythm for Chase Mills Record which features Beenie Man, Chin Chin, Moshan, Zumjay, Dimon Treajah, Tiana, and Masicka. He also mixed most of the songs on the project.
Born Okieve Brown on February 17, 1989, he grew up in the Alexander Road area of Maxfield before his family moved to Waltham Park Road.
At the early age of three, with the help of his now deceased father, he fell in love with dancehall and reggae icons such as Buju Banton, Bob Marley, Beenie Man, and Bounty Killer.
After graduating fromt high school, he started Avikon Entertainment in 2007 along with two artistes. He began to focus on learning the art of engineering and the business of music. "I used every chance I got to access knowledge on the Internet to better my craft," he said.
In late 2012, his production house began to get a buzz with DMG rhythm, which featured young bloods like Navino and Shaneil, and got his first radio spins. Avikon then got more props for El Verano rhythm and his latest production, 'DanceHall Loud', featuring Munga with Sick Part and Delly Ranks with Finger Fiery.
