Zee gets candid on new single
Singjay Don Zee is putting the promotional muscle behind his latest single, ‘Same Mi’.
The song produced by Damion ‘Star D’ Benjamin, speaks about working for a better life while remaining grounded. “The song is about working towards a better life while maintaining your composure, being true to yourself and those around you,” Don Zee explained.
Born Dwayne Benjamin, Don Zee is originally from Clarendon. He later relocated to Spanish Town in St Catherine, where he wrote his first song in the fifth grade at Eltham Park Primary. Influenced at an early age by music, he grew up around various sound systems that his father owned, one of which was the Sky Limit sound.
Following the death of his mother in 2008, he teamed up with his brother Damion (a professional musician) and began his professional musical journey. Both worked on creating rhythms and recording in their home studio. Soon, word began to spread about their work in their community of Waterford in Portmore. They continued working and garnered some success when Don Zee’s song Mek Di Money got some attention on Irie FM. His subsequent recordings include Real Woman, Winner, Love Me Baby, and Leader.
Don Zee returns to home soil in Clarendon on Labour Day, Monday, May 23, to perform at Family Fun Day and Health Fair. It takes place at the Watsonton Primary and will feature performances from the likes of Nesbeth, Jahmiel, Versatile, and I-Voltage.
