DJ Naz gets boost from MKQ
Veteran selector DJ Naz is excited about her role as resident DJ for Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall Chill Room. According to Naz, she is finally breaking into corporate Jamaica after many years.
"The experience has been fun. Me and Triple X run joke and them thing deh but people have been asking to see me more. It has brought more exposure to brand DJ Naz and it is a good look," she said.
Naz told THE STAR that female DJs face an uphill task to break into the mainstream. However, she remains committed to dancehall and reggae music. "I represent girl power, which means strong female inna the business. It is a male-dominated space and the competition is up like 7. I am just working with who work with me. The streets show me a lot of love and a deh so the thing deh," she said.
DJ Naz has been making cameos at inner-city events, and is also hosting a show on RE TV along with Dufton Shepherd. She also made her debut in Panama recently where she played at several events.
Currently working with booking company Romeich Entertainment and overseas-based Jam Rock One, DJ Naz is promoting a new mixtape titled New Level Unlocked. "We are going to flood the streets with the new mixtape. It has a lot of good songs that are running the place right now. You can book me through the Naz social media channels or link Romeich Entertainment. I have also been doing some work with Dancin' Dynamites behind the scenes, so that is where it's at right now. I am very much accepted overseas and so my goal is to just work on the promotions and set the thing in Jamaica the right way," she said.
