Wild Axe swings with 'Hotsteppa'
Dancehall artiste Wild Axe is on the verge of a breakthrough with Hotsteppa, which is getting a lot of love on FM radio. The song was released on the Hundred Degrees rhythm on the Control Tower Squad label.
"A crazy rotation the song a get right now. SunCity Radio a play it. It a get heavy rotation on the local stations a London. Digital Chris from IRIE a beat it, and Scary Gary from Stone Love a thump it. The song a hit; the video ready fi go road soon. Mi a do road hard, and we a get good results,"he said.
The video, directed by Cornelius Grant, will be released officially next week.
He has a follow-up song called Pree Gal And Money, which will be released on R Money Records this month.
"The follow-up song a go rough up the road. But right now, Hotsteppa a get crazy promotion in the streets. Mi a push out nuff CDs and mi a get a good feedback. Wild Axe a go fi piece of the summer," the artiste, born Ryan Bennett, said.
Wild Axe initially had no interest in being a recording artiste, but, inspired by his biggest musical influences like Bounty Killer, Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Buju Banton, and Beenie Man, he began to write lyrics, and his love for music reached feverish proportions.
He migrated a few years ago to England, where he began studying IT at Lewisham College, but music called him, so in 2010, he began to refocus his energy and started to compose songs again. He has recorded other singles such as Money Mi Want and Happy Life.
